Prof. Crina nimigean, phd

Professor

Crina received her PhD in Physiology and Biophysics from Karl Magleby's lab at the University of Miami. She did her postdoctoral work with Christopher Miller at Brandeis University. She established her research lab at University of California, Davis in 2005, before moving to Weill Cornell Medical School, New York, as part of the Anesthesiology, Physiology and Biophysics, and Biochemistry departments. Riegelhaupt+Paul_web.jpg

PRof. paul Riegelhaupt, md/phd

Assistant Professor

Paul completed an MD/PhD program at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Myles Akabas' lab, studying the physiology of malarial transporters. He did medical residency in anesthesiology at the University of California San Francisco. While there, he also did postdoctoral work with Daniel Minor studying K2P potassium channels. He is now a junior faculty member in the Anesthesiology department at Weill Cornell and has continued studying the regulation and anesthetic modulation of K2P channels. [pubmed]

Shubhangi Agarwal, phd

Postdoctoral Associate

Shubhangi received her PhD from University of Calcutta, India in Biophysics and Molecular Biology where she was using X ray Crystallography in solving structures of iron transporting periplasmic proteins from V. cholerae. In her first post doc in the University of Hohenheim, Germany, she was studying the structure of the respiratory membrane protein and identifying the drug binding sites of this protein also from V. cholerae.

ELIZABETH KIM, phd

Postdoctoral Associate

Elizabeth received her BSE in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Her thesis work with Arthur Haas investigated how HECT E3 ligases assemble polymers of ubiquitin. In the Nimigean lab, her research focuses on the design elements that drive structure and function of cyclic nucleotide-gated channels. [NCBI]

CHIEH-CHIN LI, phd

Postdoctoral Associate

Chieh-Chin completed his PhD at the National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan) in Yun-Wei Chiang’s lab. While there, he studied the structure-function relationship of antiapoptotic ion channel BI-1 by ESR. In the Nimigean lab, he is now working on identifying the molecular mechanism of temperature-sensitive CNG channels and the BK-NMDAR complexes. [Google Scholar]

TAEHYUN PARK, PHD

Postdoctoral Associate

Taehyun received his PhD from Hanyang University, Korea in bioengineering, and worked in National Cancer Center Korea as a postdoc, studying the structure of cell signaling modulators, dual specific tyrosine phosphatases (DUSPs) and kinases by using X-ray Crystallography. In his previous postdoc, he got to become interested in transporter protein in his previous study of structure and function of PTPIP51, lipid transporter, and joined in this group. In the Nimigean group, He is working on identifying the mechanism of the lipid modulation in cyclic nucleotide-Gated (CNG) channels. [Google scholar]

HEE-SEOP YOO, PHD

Postdoctoral Associate

HeeSeop received a Ph.D. in Structural Biology from Ajou University where he focused on structure and protein-protein interactions of cancer signaling proteins. In 2023, he joined the Nimigean lab as a Postdoctoral associate and works on Ca2+-activated K+ channels research.

ZHIHAN WANG, phd

Postdoctoral Associate

Zhihan received his B.S. at the University of Washington and Ph.D. at the University of Arizona. He previously focused on bioanalytical chemistry research, such as stabilization of AChR-functionalized electrophysiological sensors, in vitro transcription and translation of Kir 6.2 chimeras, and stoichiometric characterization of viroporins. In the Nimigean lab, he is going to investigate the structure and function of proteins such as TRP and SthK channels.
